Bling at the Dog Show - Irish Setter Club of America National Specialty

Image
Bling has been so busy meeting people at book events, she just has not had time to go to dog shows.   She really loves dog shows, but there is only so much time in the day.    It has been a lifetime goal for Bling to retire from dog showing at a National Specialty in the veteran classes.   She was entered in the 9 to 11 year old girl classes.   To our delight, she won 4th place.   To everyone's delight - she decided to jump and play in the ring.   She has been sick and there are a few places on her front legs that were shaved by the doctors and her hair is still growing back in.  We are thankful it did not matter to the judge.   Bling ran around the ring like she was a year old.    Bling always makes us smile.   She is a rollicking Irish Setter and has fun no matter what she does. As of this dog show, she is officially retired from showing and turns the dog show events over to her younge...

Bling's weekly book review: Charlie's New Friend by Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman

Image
Hi Friends, Many of you know how much I LOVE "Charlie The Ranch Dog" books by Ree Drummond (The Pioneer Woman).   Charlie lives on a real ranch and is a real dog -  just like me.   I pretend to be a ranch dog.  Really, our property is a hobby farm.  A hobby farm is bigger than a regular property, but not as big as a ranch.  I have chickens just like Charlie. This story about Charlie is titled "Charlie's New Friend".   In the story, Charlie wakes up and heads to the kitchen for breakfast.  He is very surprised to find his bowl empty.   He goes outside to find his mom and see what is happening.   Here is one of my favorite parts - once outside he sees a SQUIRREL .  He chased the squirrel up a tree.  Someday, I want to do that too!   My squirrels are too fast and are always in the trees by the time I get outside.  Yikes, back to our story.   Charlie passes the garden and disc...

Bling's weekly book review: "Harry by the Sea" written by Gene Zion and illustrated by Margaret Bloy Graham.

Image
Hi friends, It is time for this week's book review.    Since we have read 2 stories in the book about Harry, I thought it would be fun to review the third and final story in this book.   Of course the story is again about our cute little buddy, Harry the spotted dog.  The name of this week's story in the book is  Harry by the Sea.    The story is written by  Gene Zion  and illustrated by  Margaret Bloy Graham . . In this story, as usual, Harry gets himself into trouble.  This time, Harry is at the beach when the trouble starts.  Psssst....did you notice my beach hat and sunglasses?  I thought I would be in my beach gear for this book review.  Okay, back to our story.   Yep, Harry is in trouble.  At the beach, Harry just can't seem to do anything right.  He is so frustrated.  He runs away from his troubles only to be in more trouble.    His troubles keep getting worse....

Bling's weekly book review: "Where's The Bacon" a story in the Adventures of Charlie the Ranch Dog, written by Ree Drummond and illustrated by Diane deGroat

Image
Hi friends, It is time for this week's book review.   For a few weeks we are going to be enjoying a collection of stories in one book about Charlie the Ranch Dog.  There are 5 stories in this particular book featuring one of my favorite dogs, Charlie.   Charlie is a Basset Hound and he is hilarious.   Charlie lives on a ranch and is an official ranch dog!  We are going to really enjoy reading his stories.  The name of this week's story in the book is Where's the Bacon?    The story is written by Ree Drummond and illustrated by Diane deGroat . I love my girlfriend, Faith.   My mom actually calls us the twins.   We aren't twins, but we do everything together.   Friends are wonderful.   Reading is great whether you read by yourself or read with a friend.   This week's story is about friends - new friends. In the beginning of the story, Charlie finds there is a guest dog staying at...

Bling's weekly book review: For Every Dog An Angel written and illustrated by Christine Davis

Image
Hi friends, It is time for this week's book review.   The name of this week's book is For Every Dog An Angel .   The story is written and illustrated by Christine Davis . You know every week I write a book review about a children's book.   The book review is written for adults to share with the special kids in their lives.   This week I am doing something a little different.   The book I am reviewing is written more for adults but is something for all of us, young and old, who have a special dog.   The book starts out with a puppy being born.   The puppy gets old enough to leave its mother and goes to live with its new special family.   We have all had that experience.   When I was born, I had 5 brothers and sisters.    My humans took care of us all and five families came over and my brothers and sisters went to live with those 5 new special families.   My humans ...

Bling's weekly book review - Dragon Was Terrible, authored by Kelly Dipucchio

Image
Hi Kids, It is time for my weekly book review.  There are so many GGGGRRRREAT books out there, it is difficult to pick one to review each week.   I want to review more than one!! This week, my book review is on " Dragon was Terrible " by author, Kelly DiPucchio and illustrated by Greg Pizzoli . What makes us choose a specific book to read?   It can be a number of things.  This week what caught my attention was the title of the book.   I had to laugh out loud when I read it.... Dragon was Terrible !   Instantly, I wanted to read more. The first page begins the story saying, "Dragon was terrible.  Naturally, dragons have a bit of terrible in them because they are dragons after all."   I laughed to myself (well, Rembrandt Blue, my cat besty, heard me too.)  That is so true.  Who isn't afraid of a dragon?  I asked myself, "Why are we afraid of dragons?  Well, because...they are dragons...duh!"  ...

Bling Loves Bees

Image
Any of you who receive my children's newsletter know about the game "Take Bling".   (If you do not receive the newsletter, but would like to, go to my website and sign up on the Fan Page . To play the game, you have a picture of me, tape it to a stick, and take photos of my photo where ever you go.  It is fun to see the different places people go!   This week, my human mom, Dawn, took my picture to the small town of Westin, Texas.   There is a honey store there that is only open on Saturdays.   I may be raising bees on my property in Texas someday.   Here is some information on bees and how important they are to our planet. The importance of bees Bees are very important for our ecosystem and for agriculture. They play a crucial role in pollinating flowers. Pollination is the way in which the male part of a flower reaches the female part so that a new plant can grow. Insects like bees are very important because they move t...

The New Studio

Image
I am laying here enjoying where my mom's new art studio will be.  It is easy to pick a spot for my own personal doggie bed.  After all, I'll be spending a lot of time in here.  It is only reasonable that I will be able to pick where my bed will go.  Of course, once the walls are up, I may change my mind on where my bed will go.  It has to be in a prime location for me to watch SQUIRRELS!! A few weeks ago I was at the dog show.  I won an "Owner Handler Group 3" on Sunday.  It was pretty awesome.  The dog shows are so much fun. Have a great day and thanks for looking at my blog.

My Newsletter!

Image
My newsletter is done and we are currently updating the email addresses for the children (and their parents) who have signed up for it.  The newsletter will be emailed to everyone by tomorrow. Life happens so quickly.  All of a sudden we are no longer babies.  Here is a picture of me when I was a baby dog.   We learn many important lessons when we are children.   Experiences are forever in our memories.  My human mom's fondest childhood memories are playing with her dog.   Dogs bring a great deal of joy into our lives.   My goal is to be everyone's dog.  If you don't have a dog, then I want to be your dog too.   We may not live together, but that doesn't mean we can't share stories.  Send real letters to me, or email me at:   adogbling@gmail.com   or post a letter on my Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/adogbling/ I can't wait to keep in touch with my new friends through my newsletter.  If you ...
