Hi friends, It is time for my weekly children's book review.   This week I am reviewing Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes . My favorite flower is a yellow rose, though I like any yellow flowers.  Yep, I love yellow flowers.   My mom thought it would be perfect to take a picture of me outside with my book and yellow flowers.  The first thing I noticed about the book was the cover.  It has an illustration of a yellow flower on it.  The flower is a chrysanthemum.   Did you know a chrysanthemum bloom is made of hundreds of tiny flowers called florets.    Okay - on to our book review! Chrysanthemum is a story about a little mouse.  Her name is Chrysanthemum.   In the book, it is the first day of school.   Chrysanthemum is a very happy little mouse.  One huge thing that makes her happy is her name.  She loves her name, Chrysanthemum.   She knows in her heart it was a special name.  She is so excited about her first day of school.   She wears one her favorite dresses and can't w

Hi Friends, It is time for another weekly book review.   Writing a book review means I've read a book.  Every time I read a book, I have to bark bark bark with excitement.  Books are really special.  I am not sure if we talk enough about that.   Books let us explore places we may never visit in person.  On the flip side, books may tells us about a place that leads to us to visit there someday.   Books are so important.   Okay, on to our book! This week, my book review is on "Good Night Baddies" written by Deborah Underwood and illustrated by Juli Kangas. When you look at a book, do you ever wonder what made you want to read the book?   For me, it is all about pictures.  After all, isn't that what a children's picture book is all about?   With this week's book, "Good Night Baddies", I loved how real the illustrations looked.   I picked up the book and opened it to read the book flap.   Do you know what a book flap is?  The flap of a

Hi Friends, It is time for my weekly book review.  I love doing them for you!   Writing a book review means I've read a book.  Every time I read a book I have to bark bark bark with excitement.   This week, my book review is on "Penguin Problems" written by Jory John and illustrated by Lane Smith. Do you know anyone who complains ALL THE TIME?   If so, have you noticed how unhappy they are?  It makes me sad when complaining happens a lot.    It is so much more fun to be happy than disappointed and complaining. This week's book, Penguin Problems, is about (you guessed it) a penguin.   The book starts out with the penguin being unhappy because it is too early in the morning.   Getting up early helps us to get more done!   The penguin is unhappy about everything.  Other penguins are too noisy.   Really!!!  That is just silly.   The penguin is unhappy if it is too sunny or too snowy or if he waddles when he walks.   Gee, aren't penguins supposed to wadd

Hi Friends, It is time for my weekly book review.   I love doing them for you! This week, my book review is for a children's book, Eat your Peas , written by Kes Gray and illustrated by Nick Sharratt.   Maybe I am an unusual dog, but I like peas and I LOVE brussels sprouts.   Don't even get me started about tomatoes.....gosh, my tail is really wagging fast. This book is about a little girl named Daisy.  Daisy does not like peas.   It is dinnertime and Daisy's mom is encouraging Daisy to eat her peas. At first Daisy's mom asks Daisy to eat her peas.  Daisy just couldn't.  Daisy doesn't like peas.  Then, Daisy's mom offers Daisy a nice reward for eating her peas.   Daisy still wouldn't eat her peas.   Daisy's mom keeps offering Daisy more rewards for eating peas.   It doesn't matter.  Daisy does not like peas. Is there anything you don't like to eat.  I really thought about this.   I can't think of anything I don't l
