Hi friends, It is time for this week's book review.   The name of this week's book is Chicken Little .   The story is retold and illustrated by Steven Kellogg . I've been waiting to share this book with you until it was spring time.  I knew my mom would have new chicks.   We have some lovely baby chicks that were just hatched.  One is here with me in the photo.  Do you see her?   Keep an eye on my Facebook page.  I'll be sharing more chick and chicken photos there.   I have a video of me with the chicks too.  Okay - enough about my chickens.   Let's talk about this week's book. Chicken Little is not only the name of our book but the name of the main character in the story.   Chicken Little is a cute little yellow chick that was on her way home from school.  As she was skipping down the road, an acorn fell from a tree and hit her right in the middle of the head.  Chicken Little was terrified.   She did not know it was an acorn.   She over reacted and

Bling's weekly book review: Biscuit visits the Farm by Alyssa Satin Capucilli and illustrated by Pat Schories

Hi friends, It is time for this week's book review.   The name of this week's book is Biscuit Visits the Farm .   The author is Alyssa Satin Capuchilli and the illustrations were created by Pat Schories . There is something different about this book than the others I have written about.  This week's book is a board book.  Have you ever heard about a board book?   I hadn't either until someone told me about them.   Board books are for little kids.  The pages of the board books are very thick - like a board.  The pages don't bend.  That way,  little kids can hold the pages easier when they are looking at the book.   If you look closely at my photo with the book, you can see the pages are thick and are not bending - just like the cover of the book.  This book was fun for me to read.   Now that I live in Texas, I kind of live on a farm.   Well, kind of a mini farm.  Some people call it a hobby farm.  We have chickens...lots of chickens.  We also have a bird

Bling's weekly book review: Harry the Dirty Dog by Gene Zion, Illustrated by Margaret Bloy Graham

Hi friends, It is time for my weekly children's book review.   The name of this week's book is Harry the Dirty Dog .   The author is Gene Zion and the illustrations were created by Margaret Bloy Graham . Our main character is Harry.  Harry is a little white dog with black spots.  This book does not feature just one story, but includes three stories about Harry.  Isn't that awesome?    I don't know Harry personally.   I was able to get to know him because of his stories in this book.   That is the beauty of books.  Books let you travel to places you may never get to visit in person.  Books let you pretend to be a super hero or an explorer.  Through books you get to know people, pets and even history.   Books are great.  I really love reading books. The first story about Harry in our book is about him getting dirty.  I thought I'd read the book outside where I get dirty.   I love to run in the mud.  Then I try to sneak back in the house with muddy feet and ge

Bling's weekly book review - The Recess Queen written by Alexis O'Neill and illustrated by Laura Huliska-Beith

Hi friends, It is time for my weekly children's book review.   The name of the book is The Recess Queen .   The author is Alexis O'Neill and the illustrations were created by Laura Huliska-Beith . The cover of the book caught my attention immediately - it is  yellow.   Yellow is my favorite color.   When I was a baby puppy, my collar was yellow.   I just love yellow.   The picture below is of my family (Faith and Bliss) getting ready to read the book.   My family loves to read together.   Reading together is one of our most favorite things to do.   Did you notice the yellow pillows?   I really love the color yellow.  What is your favorite color? Okay - time to focus on our book review.   The book is about a girl named Jean.  The other kids called her Mean Jean.     When I turned to the first page in the book, Mean Jean looked really mean.   She had a really mean smile.    I was kinda afraid of Mean Jean and I didn't even know her.   All I did was look at her face

Bling's weekly book review - Sephanie's Ponytail written by Robert Munsch and illustrated by Michael Martchenko

Hi friends, It is time for my weekly children's book review.   I have been wanting to tell you about this book for some time.   It is one of my favorites.  The name of the book is Stephanie's Ponytail .   The author is Robert Munsch and the illustrations were created by Michael Martchenko . The cover of the book had me laughing instantly.   On the cover, Stephanie's mom is pulling her hair on top of her head into a ponytail.   Do you know my mom does that to me too?  Only she does it with the hair on my ears when I am getting a haircut.   In the story, Stephanie wanted to be different from the other kids in her school.  No one else had a ponytail, so Stephanie decided she wanted one.   Her mom pulled her hair back and made a ponytail on the back of her head.  The kids at school didn't like her ponytail.   Stephanie was okay with that.   She didn't have the ponytail to impress anyone.  She had the ponytail because she wanted it.  She liked her ponytail.  The
