Being an owner handler has moments that just keeps us laughing

Bling has always had a free and happy spirit - typical for Irish Setters.  Some call it "rollicking".   To me, she is just plain and simple... a happy dog.

Going to a dog show is full of surprises when I have Bling in the ring.  And I will admit, at this time though a seasoned show dog, she still leaps for joy at times in the ring.  She keeps me laughing.

Someone asked me recently if I'll be getting a new puppy to show anytime soon.   While we all love puppies, I think Bling and her small family of red dogs are all we need.   As long as Bling is having fun in the ring, we will continue to show.  She knows when I am packing to go to a show and she can't get in the vehicle quickly enough.  Those who know Bling, know she understands the shows are a place where TREATS are guaranteed.  And Bling LOVES her treats.  A win win for all of us.

Bling's Book Review - Do Unto Otters, bu Laurie Keller

Hi Kids, I am going to start doing a weekly book review.  There are so many GGGGRRRREAT books out there.   I wish we could read them all.  This week, my book review is on " Do Unto Otters " by author, Laurie Keller .  The book is fabulous.   Of course, the first thing I enjoyed was the cover and all the illustrations of ANIMALS.  I LOVE animals.  On the cover, Ms. Keller writes this book is, "A Book About Manners."   You know, learning great manners is one of those things that we can never stop learning about.  The older we get, the more we try, and the more we care about others, will all teach us to have the best manners possible.   Manners might not seem important now, but they are.  Believe me when I tell you this!!   The book starts out with Otters moving to the animals' neighborhood in the forest.  All the other animals are worried about the Otters.  The other animals were worried that the Otters would not have good manners.   The animals hoped the O

The kids get to meet Mr Beeps

Bling has a new pet, an English Budgie named Mr Beeps.  He is a character in her book, No Ghoulish Green Monsters Here.    We brought him into our family thinking how fun it would be to take him to book readings.  He is 3 months old and so very sweet. I did a book reading this morning and he was a huge hit.  Look for more photos of Mr. Beeps on Bling's Facebook page    Mr. Beeps went to the event as a surprise for the kids.  He was covered and they had no idea he was there.  When I started reading to the kids, I told them a pet from the book was with me,   After we were done reading the book, the kids could guess what character was there and then meet the surprise pet.  The kids had so much fun guessing.  We then had a wonderful interactive discussion about pets and pet care.
